Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University is a free and open private higher education and scientific research institution, founded according to the principle of private property, guaranteed by the Constitution. The University operates pursuant to the Romanian Constitution, Law no 88/1993, Government Decision no 568/1995, Law no 84/1995, Law no 238/2002
on setting-up “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University of Bucharest, law which also provided for the accreditation of the University, and Law no 480/2006 on the amendment of Education Law no 84/1995, as republished. The University is a legal entity of private law, recognized by civil decision no 18451/17 December 1997 of the Court of District 1, Bucharest.
The founders of “Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University are Professor dr. Momcilo Luburici and Professor dr. Corina-Adriana Dumitrescu (Radu) whose initiative and financial and physical resources lead to the setting-up of this private higher education institution in 1990, under the name of
"Dimitrie Cantemir" Independent University.
The University operates under the auspices of "Dimitrie Cantemir" Cultural Association.
The University undertakes other activities which are related or complementary to the education and research activities.
The University has its headquarters in Bucharest, 176, Splaiul Unirii, District 4.
The University has its logo, seal and academic dress approved by the Senate.
The trademark is registered with the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks under the title of “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University, and the university colours are blue and red, according to the Trademark Registration Certificate no 70948. The trademark is granted for a period of 10 years, starting on June 8, 2005.
The University Day is celebrated by scientific, cultural and sports events, on the 10th of February, which is the birthday of the University President, Professor Momcilo Luburici, founder of “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University.
As part of the Romanian university education tradition, the University contributes to the scientific, professional and civic training of young people, to their social and economic integration and to higher education graduates lifelong learning (www.ucdc.ro). Through its activities, the University has brought significant contribution to the harmonization of the educational process in Romania with those of prestigious European and international universities. “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University operates in compliance with the Romanian Constitution and legislation in force, and with the principles laid down in the international treaties and pacts on human rights, in the Magna Charta of European Universities and in the Bologna Declaration. The education and scientific research processes are organised and undertaken in compliance with the principles of university autonomy, of the University Charter and with the requirements of the higher education system.
“Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University aligned with the Bologna Process and its structure comprises 8 faculties in Bucharest, Timişoara and Cluj, providing Bachelor study programmes in the following fields: Business Administration, Economics and International Business, Finance, Marketing, Law, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Educational Sciences, and Administrative Sciences.
